Sexy Yarn Storage

It's Spring. And raining NON FREAKIN' STOP. So, it's time to reorganize Studio del Paradise Lost. It's been a fun process, because it's involved the purchase of a NEW COUCH. A real, big-girl couch - one that I chose. One that I bought with my OWN money. For me (and the cats and the dog). Not one that I bought used from Craigslist because I was moving and needed a couch and settled for someone else's taste because it was cheap and I was desperate. But a couch that I shopped for, budgeted for, bargained for, and took home with me the day I found it.

Can I tell you how satisfying it was to take my old, crappy, second hand IKEA loveseat that had SHREDDED arms (thank you Buster & Elvis), shove it in the back of a borrowed SUV, and haul it to the dump?? I did it during a workday, and I wear suits and stillettos to work, so I must have looked pretty funny hauling it out of the back of the truck and FLINGING it off the side of the dump. It got hung up on the side, so I had to KICK it over the side, using my gorgeous pointytoed Anne Klein slingbacks. The workers dumping yard clippings who were already staring at me, were REALLY staring at that show - I must say! I was there for all of 3 seconds, and had THE MOST wonderful feeling driving away.

A few weeks later, my mom and I played hooky from work, took a lovely drive up the California Coast to Bodega Bay (where Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" was filmed) and found a beautiful Japanese cabinet, with shoji screen sliding doors, and thought it would be perfect for an entertainment center. After much thinking about where ALL the yarn would go once I got rid of the old entertainment center (yarn is entertainment!), I had the miracle idea. It would go in the Japanese cabinet.

Unfinished kitty pi and some yarn from Gramma's stash...

So, my yarn has a fabulous new, very expensive home. My home, on the other hand, is a crazy mess. You know how it always gets worse before it gets better? Yeah...that's my life right now.
